I have been following The Tapping Solution for years — since 2010, to be exact, and I recently enrolled in their body confidence program. The very first webinar on setting yourself up for success had me breaking through like I never have before — why?
The tapping session addressed the feeling of betrayal someone can feel regarding their own body, and it was the statement, “My body feels broken” that did it for me. It really opened my eyes to buried feelings of resentment that I still evidently harbor for it — and I have to say, when you’re forced to address feelings you weren’t that conscious of, it can really get things moving. I had a similar moment when I first started writing my memoirs back in 2008, with tears pouring down my face for hours.
The solution to all this also comes from the first tapping webinar: loving your body no matter how negative you tend to feel about it, and this is because we tend to take good care of what we love.
As a result of these tapping exercises, this week I’ve found it much easier to get myself moving and working out even if it wasn’t convenient.
My takeaway is to advise us all to acknowledge and be grateful to our bodies for always doing the best they can, for supporting us all our lives and to love them for it. Sure, they’re not perfect for one reason or another, but they always at least try.
Try it, and see how your approach to therapy, working out, or even just body image shifts from this change.
To our healing,
