Are you familiar with the quote, “If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans”? So, not long after I announce my Call-to-Action month, not only is Duckie still sneezing (it may be time to bring her back to the vet), but I may have contracted the human version of whatever is ailing her — not sure if it’s just the dryness (my humidifier leaves things to be desired) or if I’m actually falling ill, which rarely ever happens to me. Regardless, I woke up today with an irritated, swollen throat, an aching body (possibly from sleeping on my side as I wanted to avoid postnasal drip), and a runny nose. Originally the irritation began with the cleaning of my darling guinea pigs’ cage last night and I wrote it off as dust and hay in the air, but it was so bad this morning.
Consequently, I’m dressed today in a sweater as well as a wool scarf and have been chugging honeyed tea. This is certainly an inopportune time for me to have a cold given the fact that my birthday is in less than two weeks, and it usually takes me approximately two weeks to recover from the common cold. So, grr! I’ll be taking 5000mg of vitamin C for the next few days just to give myself an immunity boost, and making sure I get plenty of rest (and replace that humidifier!). Fingers crossed!
(I tend to lower my usually-superhuman immune system by not sleeping enough. This past Saturday, I only got five hours of sleep to attend an early-morning, daylong photography workshop, and it takes me far longer to recuperate from the effects of sleep deprivation than the average person. This could or could not be due to the fact that I am a survivor of brain injury, or just that I am particularly sensitive to it.)
Anyway, I am working on writing up some posts to make up for the missed days from last week. Just know that if they don’t make much sense, it’s because my head is all out of sorts.
To our healing,
