Happy November! I realize I sort of dropped off the face of the earth for a little bit — October was an insane month filled with events, projects, and various obligations. (While “being busy” often is not much more than an excuse, I assure you, this was really the case.)
Anyway, it’s been almost two weeks since she was “diagnosed” at the vet, and she seems all right apart from the sneezing. If you think it’s easy to treat a little cockatiel, though, you are mistaken. I’ve concluded, after having birds almost my entire life, that they are among the most audacious of critters . . . I mean, think of all the audacity required to fly. (And poop . . . wherever . . . they want.)
They may be small, but they don’t go down without a fight! Wrestling her every night for those saline drops is damn near impossible all by myself, so I have to enlist a helper (usually my sister, but also often Anthony) to assist me each night. Taking care of smaller creatures than you (whether on four legs or two) can prove rather challenging with physical limits like mine, but it’s certainly not impossible without some help!
Just know that this month is all about big positive change! Free of Gym-Pact, I’ll be burning up the in-home exercise DVDs, incorporating new and helpful apps on the iPhone, on my sticky (yoga) mat, getting to and out of bed early, and whipping up some healthy but foodie-approved recipes . . . and documenting it all for you! I hope this inspires you to do the same.
Note that this call to action for me means blogging every day for the month. (It may be the fifth, but October tends to leak into November for a few days, so please cut me some slack.)
