I’m on my second week with Gym Pact. As it turns out, you have to check in with your phone every time you get to the gym and also check out (this leads me to believe that there is some sort of workout time minimum?). (As a result of not knowing this detail when I started, my first workout logged over a day’s worth in time. Haha.)
I started out with $10 at stake and have already earned $3.30 for going my promised five times last week (eventually I will up it to six). I haven’t yet seen the money hit the bank, and of course it isn’t an impressive sum (apparently workouts only earn somewhere from 50 cents to 75 cents apiece — but the more days you go, the more you earn), but it’s better than nothing.
This week, something called the “Puma Pact” challenge began on Monday. You can win all these Puma goodies for free by being the best gym rats of everyone who’s in the program — but it being only Wednesday, I checked the stats of everyone on the leaderboard and am suspicious. Four workouts already three days into the challenge? And then I saw somebody clock in a 717-minute workout(!!). I smell foulplay. . . .
|I really wish my gym had more of this type of dumbbells.|
Which brings me to the one downside that I see to the program — integrity. A lot of times, when money’s on the line, people behave questionably. This is, after all, the reason why fine print is so prominent in our day, but that’s a discussion for another day. If you’re interested in enrolling with Gym Pact, I strongly encourage you to conduct yourself with grace and respect for the program . . . check in at the start, and check out at the end. Don’t check in if you’re not actually working out!
Oh, and I checked: No, you can’t register a home gym. Which is phooey, but I think they could eventually add a feature to require maybe a photo to prove you were indeed working out? I did just e-mail them regarding the Puma Pact and mentioning they could try incorporating that.
So far, so good! I’ll keep you updated on my progress with the whole thing. Questions? Comments? E-mail me or leave a comment below!
