Now that I’ve decided to treat this blog as more of a job in terms of regularity, I think I may implement some format changes.
I’m going to fiddle around with what I’d like to call “weekly themes.” Each Monday I’ll announce the theme of the week’s posts and then follow the posts of the week with different explorations of given theme.
There are a couple different ways to do this. I could allow each post to take a life of its own (which generally is how creative writing goes), or perhaps relegate each day to a certain point of view, for instance:
Week’s topic: X
Monday: explanation/summary of different types of X
Tuesday: product review (pertaining to X, naturally)
Wednesday: results of studies of X
Thursday: tips pertaining to X
Friday: emotional/spiritual aspects to X, or guest article
Now, as it goes, and you may have picked up on this by now, I’m not always the world’s most regimented person. When I put my mind to it though, you would be fooled — many a time, people (who don’t know me that well) will, in an air of admiration and awe, marvel, “Wow, you’re so organized!”
So it’s not that I don’t know how to be. It’s that I know myself and my natural state. (If you’ve ever been to my room you’ll know what I mean.) I hate clutter, so I strive for organization, but left to my own devices, I stray.
So no, I’m not going to break up each week into those segments. I could try, but I feel as a writer that posting would too often become like writing papers for school; I could churn them out but I wouldn’t necessarily enjoy it. And I think it’s clear in your writing when your heart wasn’t in it. And I do not roll that way.
So I’ll try to stick to an assigned weekly theme, but at least for now I’ll just go with how I’m feeling and approach each week’s topic intuitively. We’ll see how it goes.
What do you think of this idea? I’d like to encourage any and all of you to leave thoughts and comments in response to my posts either below or by e-mailing me; otherwise, this blog is just a running stream of narcissism and soliloquy. Where’s the fun in that?
Oh, and yes, I’m still going to post guest articles, but everyone knows you can’t rush the writing process. (Well, you sort of can, but I’m not about to high-pressure anyone kind enough to do us the favor.)
Without further ado, the theme for this week: self-awareness [as a tool for growth and improvement in healing].
I look forward to hearing from you!
To our healing,
