Apparently there is a new movement in the little-known alternative health arena that is called “grounding,” which essentially goes like this: the natural electromagnetism running through the earth, which is necessary to all chemical processes, has pain-relieving and healing potential for us all. How to access this power? It’s as easy as taking off your socks and shoes — tap into the Kenyan within us all (haha) and go barefoot, which positively affects our posture and our well being.
Supposedly you can “activate” your own health and equilibrium by grounding yourself for at least 20-30 minutes a day. You can alternatively hug a tree (literally!) or put your palm against any metal pole standing from the ground. Your hands and feet are, according to these guys, the best receptors for the electromagnetism. I find that walking on grass actually feels really good! Like, ahh, this is where we were meant to walk (and come on, it is).
